A truly historic venue

Our romantic venue dates back to about 1660. This is when the original farmhouse and the smaller of our two barns, which now houses the wedding breakfast room, were built. The larger barn, which now contains our dance floor, ceremony room and entrance hall, was constructed around 1750.

Both our barns retain their characterful oak beams and are remarkably well preserved – 85% of the buildings are original. Today they’re linked together to create one magnificent open plan space. There’s a real sense of history yet with all the modern amenities you need.

The Mount family owned Winters Barns for most of the twentieth century. It was a working farm for most of this period, producing a mix of arable, cattle, fruit and hops until 1970. You can still find 100-year-old Bramley apple trees in our orchard today!

David Jackson purchased the farm in 1989 and has lovingly renovated and enhanced the facilities step by step. The onsite couple’s cottage, which was originally a cattle shed, is now a comfortable and romantic haven. The nearby salon, which used to be the farm’s stables, is now a modern facility with everything you need to get ready for your big day.

The first wedding here was in 2007, when a special licence was obtained for David’s daughter to marry. The occasion was so perfect that David made the venue available for private hire so other couples could enjoy the same special atmosphere.

Winters Barns was fully licensed and opened as an official wedding venue in 2008. It’s an incomparable romantic setting and has quickly become one of Kent’s premier wedding venues.
